BTW, one good breathing exercise we do in band class is the "ch" exercise. Breathe in a proper, abdominal breath filling your lungs and expanding your stomach by lowering your diaphram. Then, exhale in ch sounds.

While doing the ch sound, your diaphram should be moving upward as if doing an articulation into a wind intrument, meaning it should basically have a bit of force behind the ch.
